I feel kind of bad because this reference doesn't have too much art on it XD;; I just realized more of it is text and that'd be boring so it's minute, and all the meat is down here in the description. Sorry it's a lot orz

Name: Mercutio “Shio” Vilenn

Age: 26

Species: Human/Terran

Height: 5’10”

Weight: 148 lbs

Likes: Fishing, travelling, Lobster, any seafood really, fixing something broken, taking a nap under the shade of a tree, learning another planet’s history.


Dislikes: Pushy people, anyone that strikes him as deceptive, people that break his trust (especially more than once)

Personality: 

Shio is rather secretive, but doesn’t outright come across as it. He only shares a choice few facts about himself, and would rather submerge himself in someone else’s story or another world’s history. He’s friendly, charming (if not a bit awkward), and loves to tell a story about a place he’s been. He can become a bit distant when more questions are asked about himself, or even rather self-hating. Even considering his luck and everything he generally has a low self-esteem and thinks that he’s a bad person, without sharing any full-on details of why. It leads him to be pretty negative about some things, even if he has a brighter disposition. He’s always thinking of ways to help himself get to his next goal and what to do to get there fastest.

While he generally doesn’t like having to lie, it’s become a part of his character. He won’t tell lies frequently. Rather, he’s pretty much honest about many things, considering lying more frequently would become easier to spot. Under such cases, he may tell someone that he finds unthreatening his name (Shio), but tell someone that would pose a threat a fake name, and continue to be friendly, and even go so far as make a different background for himself.  Generally, he lies when he can gain something from the use of a lie.
He will (usually) only lie if:

He’s avoiding talking about himself     

The person he’s lying to is better off not knowing      

The person worries him, and it’s better to use a different alias

Shio and Relationships:

Shio has never really gotten interested in long-lasting relationships, mostly for love interests. He can definitely feel attraction, but does not act on his urges. Therefore he's pretty much bi-curious and has very little experience with anything.
He isn't picky either. He's used to seeing humanoid beings and alien-like people given his travels. He probably knows plenty about different species.

FRIENDSHIPS YES He likes making friends and allies as much as he can BUT he does not want to disclose too much given he's determined to leave not long later. He makes friends for benefits as well as needing the personal contact. Just because He doesn't want long personal in-depth friends does NOT mean he will not act like friends with people.

Background:

Though he does not admit it, Shio grew up in a small farming community on planet Terra. Terra is an alternate Earth essentially, with one massive metropolis that’s been huge with tourism, technology, and is overall a giant mixing pot for space travelers. Even with the extent of technology available on the planet, he lived humbly by the coast with his parents, which is evidently where he gained his skills.

The rest is history, but something led him to leave his small hometown.

He travelled from then on, and didn’t just stop with Terra, that was just the beginning. After wandering all around his world, he knew he had to go farther. He did anything he could to earn credits (or currency) to get shuttle trips off-world to different locations (mostly fishing) that he wanted to explore. Even longer story short, he’s been anywhere and everywhere he could go for a while before happening across the wrong shuttle.

While trying to get to his next destination, he got onto the incorrect shuttle and was (not very gently) dropped off on Phraetos IV, which was more of an island on a planet of complete murky water. Not what he was expecting, but he went exploring. The place was decrepit and with the help of some very nervous locals, he was told that the planet (like many others) was under the control of an Overlord, and this was a dictating one. After helping the rebellion (or rather, just being with them to learn about the place) he was spotted by sentry robots and even tricked, getting himself arrested and thrown into a solitary cell in the dictator’s tower. This is where the Roulette City story begins.

Strengths:

-Anything related to fishing, as if that’s helpful
-Very fast
-Convenient “nice guy” card.

Weaknesses:

-Not a fighter like goddamn
-Human/flimsy
-TECHNOLOGY
-Very trusting of other people

Weapons:

Fishing Rod:

The only thing you could really consider a weapon. It is not a normal fishing rod just because of its overall strength of being able to reel in its holder, and having a sharp slicing end. Wire is durable and tricky to cut.

Green thingy:

Shio’s been seen widdling with it, so it’s rather sharp. Can be used for any sort of cutting that might become useful, but is rather small. Close inspection, it looks a lot more technological than what the fisherman would like, as if there’s something about it. Shio  just knows he got it from his parents.

Stats- Extended

Strength: 2/5 stars

His main strengths come from his strong legs to run very fast, or in his arms. He can use his fishing rod to pull himself up things, which requires upper body strength. He can let out a good punch but is really hopeless with fighting.

Dexterity: 4.5/5 stars

Considering he’s always on the move, mostly by foot, he can get into a sprint— and a fast sprint very quickly. His main attributes is his running and being able to dodge things. It also includes quick reflexes (fishing rod = allowing him to dodge). Unfortunately he ended up in a fighting tournament…

Intelligence: 1/5 stars

He’s human and has zero ability in magic. However, his intelligence comes from some ability to problem solve, or rather, improvise. He’s not the best at it but is able to find his way out of messes with some success.

Charisma: 3/5 stars

He’s rather friendly and all-around a personable guy that can attract people to himself. However, he can be awkward, and isn’t good with making friends considering that he doesn’t stay in one place for very long. His friendliness sets him up as an honest guy, so when he lies: it’s not questioned by the person he spoke to. Overall he’d prefer to talk things out and have everything work out the way he plans, without being caught in a lie.

Wisdom: 2/5 stars

Again, his magical abilities are zero. His wisdom comes from people: he can usually tell what people are feeling and empathizes with them. The downside is that he uses his feelings to trust other people, which is either good or bad. He is also smart when it comes to tools of his trade (lures, boats, the water, even instruments) but anything mechanical or otherwise “techy” is pretty foreign to him. Think of it as: he has no trouble with a boat with paddles, but once it’s a motor boat, he is pretty pathetic.

Will: 1/5 stars

He has pretty strong morals but has really no defense against someone taking advantage of his sanity. Given how he keeps things a mystery, any sort of pressing or discovering of his background with shake him significantly. Something must have really bothered him about it.

Luck: 3.5/5 stars

Not only does surviving on his own on few belongings take skill, it takes some luck. He’s generally just a really lucky, average guy that knows he’s been incredibly fortunate, whether it be dumb luck or not.

 

Relationships:

Lord Spiro:

Spiro is the dictator keeping Shio locked up on Phraetos IV. Shio has a lot of resentment towards him not only because of what he’s heard about him, but also that Spiro was the one to trick him when he arrived by disguising himself as an outcast rebel, and used Shio to find the other rebels.

Tl;dr probably one of the only guys Shio will actually lose his temper with JUST BY SEEING HIM

Nessa:

Though she’s not mentioned much, she seems to have made good friends with Shio as he’s
been locked up in the tower. She’s gone as far as to press him for more information about himself, and did find out some (much to Shio’s dismay). This only seemed to make her more interested in him over the short time he’s been locked up in her care, and she also seems to have some resentment to her Overlord Spiro.

Shio has also grown rather close to her as she is prolific in everything he isn’t, and boosts his self-esteem at some moments. He rather much admires her and would go as far to say he was pretty dependant on her during his prison stay.
